The Keep Homestead Museum is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization overseen by a Board of Directors. Even though we have one of the largest button collections in the country, knowledge of buttons is not required. You don’t even need to like buttons! However, a desire to help a small museum survive, improve and be an entertaining, educational place for folks to visit is a must. Our community is special.
What volunteers do
We get the house and barn ready for our nine Open Houses. The button displays are freshened up. We look for ways to enhance the exhibits and keep them safe. At times, we may do basic maintenance, gardening and clean-up. Vacuuming, dusting, cutting and trimming the grass are tasks left to professionals.
When we show up
Meet at the house on Tuesday mornings. We’ll organize and prepare for the upcoming Open House that happens the first Sunday of each month from April through December. The museum is closed from January through March. During that time, volunteers make regular inspections of the museum.
Be a Keeper
There are four ways to join us: Call the museum at 413-267-4137 and leave a message stating your interest and contact info. Speak with a volunteer during a visit to the museum. Simply show up on a Tuesday morning just after 9:00 and meet the gang. Or, send an email with your contact info.
Thank you! We look forward to seeing you.
